Bayonetta developer Platinum ponders push onto PC

Bayonetta developer Platinum ponders push onto PC:
Bayonetta
Japanese developer Platinum Games is probably best known for Bayonetta, the console combo-death-blender featuring a gun-crazed witch with magical pistols for high heels. It’s difficult coming up with rival PC action games on the same caliber of wackiness as that concept, but Platinum might soon make it easy for us—executive director Atsushi Inaba told Polygon he’s “very interested” in exploring self- and crowd-funded games on the PC.
“Console game development budgets are really big, so we need publishing partners to create those games,” Inaba said. “I was thinking—with our own money—about creating a PC title for Steam. It would give us the possibility to become a publisher, which is very attractive to me.”
“If you think about the console market in Japan, and compare it to the world, it’s not that big,” he continued. “So I view the PC as an area with huge potential. It would be great if we could do a Kickstarter and gather enough money for a game to be released on Steam.”
Inaba didn’t elaborate on any concrete plans by Platinum for a Kickstarter campaign or an earnest move into PC gaming in the future, but the interest certainly shows.

Cryptic decrypts Neverwinter’s Foundry system

Cryptic decrypts Neverwinter’s Foundry system:
Neverwinter
Neverwinter‘s fantasy MMO foundation might stick to established norms we’re all used to–magic, medieval weaponry, hitting a 17-foot dragon in the shins, and so on–but its Foundry quest editor gives players the chance to forge their own epic sagas of malice, might, and mischief using Neverwinter’s sizable asset library of NPCs, room layouts, monsters, and ubiquitous text boxes.
“Using The Foundry editor, you’ll be able to create your own maps and set the adventures that take place within them,” Cryptic’s dev blog reads. “More importantly, you’ll be able to do this right away, with very little experience with the tools. Whether you want a simple delivery type quest, or intend to create your very own, with multiple hand-created maps, a plethora of customized NPCs, pages of dialog, and a truly epic story, you can.”
Cryptic predicted a rising quality and skill ceiling for Foundry quests as players acclimate themselves to the tools at their disposal, with the intended goal of custom quests “indistinguishable from one that Cryptic’s own development team has created” and a flexibility for creativity taking place in Neverwinter’s world “as much or as little as the author wishes.”
“The interface is a series of fairly simple to use drag and drop style editors,” the blog continues. “This doesn’t mean that mastering The Foundry is easy. While you can dabble, and be successful, much of the full potential of The Foundry takes some time to fully grasp. The tools and your quests are really as simple, or as complex, as you wish them to be.”

Assassin’s Creed 3 system requirements appear, render the American Revolution on 2GB RAM

Assassin’s Creed 3 system requirements appear, render the American Revolution on 2GB RAM:

Assassin’s Creed 3 will squash the American Revolution onto 17GB of hard drive space according to the minimum system specs carried by Kotaku. That’s a hefty chunk of data. Hopefully it’s all made up of high resolution textures to make the PC edition shine. It won’t run on XP, if you’re still using that, but the rest of the requirements look nice and manageable.
The PC version is coming out a short while after the console edition on November 20 in the US and November 23 in Europe. Find out how it plays in our recent Assassin’s Creed 3 hands-on account. Early indications suggest that it’s going to be a very uncomfortable time for everyone wearing a red coat. At least the blood won’t show.
Minimum system requirements
  • Supported OS: Windows Vista (SP2) / Windows 7 (SP1) / Windows 8
  • Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core2 Duo E6700 or 3.00 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ or better recommended
  • RAM: 2 GB (4 GB recommended)
  • Video Card: 512 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant with Shader Model 4.0 or higher (see supported list)*
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compliant (5.1 surround sound recommended)
  • DVD-ROM: Dual-layer drive
  • Hard Drive Space: 17 GB
  • Peripherals Supported: Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)
  • Multiplayer: 256 kbps or faster broadband connection

Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
AMD Radeon HD 3870 / 4000 / 5000 / 6000 / 7000 series or better
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT / 9 / 100 / 200 / 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 series or better
